28th June is an important day in the history of EU India relations. On 28th June 2000, the 1st India-EU Summit was held in Lisbon, Portugal. Here, Indian Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee is seen with Portuguese Prime Minister Mr António Guterres and President of European Commission Dr Romano Prodi. 

EUIndia60 campaign celebrates key milestones in the 60 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between India & the European Union (EU) in 2022.

To commemorate the 60 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and the European Union (EU) this year, Europe India Centre for Business & Industry (EICBI), managed by Sivaleen Foundation for Developed India (SFDI), is organising a series of activities in 2022 under the campaign #EUIndia60. The activities as part of the EUIndia60 campaign will provide insights on how the relationship between the EU and India has evolved considerably over the last 60 years and will also focus on views from the next generation of leaders in the EU India corridor about their thoughts on the future of EU India relations.

As part of the EUIndia60 campaign, the next activity will be the "Europe India Leaders Conference 2022 (EILC 2022)".  This conference will be held on 28th and 29th June with a session at the European Parliament in Brussels and an industry visit. The other activities organised as part of the EUIndia60 campaign in 2022 can be viewed HERE.

Work by EICBI till date

Europe India Centre of Business and Industry and its associate organisations have organised 22 Major summits at British Parliament in London, 2 Major summits at European Parliament in Brussels and numerous virtual summits over the past few years in promoting trade and relations between India and European Union as well as between India and the UK.

The European Union is India’s third-largest trading partner. The trade-in goods between the two parties increased by 12.5% in the last decade, and trade in services reached the 32.7 billion euro mark in 2020. This session will focus on the following aspects

  • Untapped potential in terms of a comprehensive and mutually beneficial FTA in the near future

In case of the conference's postponement due to unforeseen circumstances like COVID etc., any payment made will automatically be adjusted to the rescheduled date.
