The India-Finland Trade Conference, held at Trivandrum in Kerala on 4th April served as a platform for exploring lucrative avenues for Indian companies in Finland/ European Union (EU). The event, graced by eminent speakers and industry leaders from Kerala, shed light on the evolving landscape of EU-India relations and the flourishing trade dynamics within this corridor especially in Finland and Kerala
Kicking off the proceedings, EICBI Chairman, Sujit S Nair, underscored the vast potential for Indian enterprises in the EU market. He elaborated on the current status of EU-India relations, emphasizing the burgeoning opportunities for trade and investment across sectors. He also spoke about the work of EICBI in promoting India relations with UK and the EU over the past 13 years.
The keynote address by Consul General of Finland in Mumbai, HE Mr. Erik af Hallstrom, provided invaluable insights into the business landscape of Finland. Mr. Hallstrom welcomed companies to explore Finland's offerings, citing its distinction as the world's happiest country according to a UN report. He accentuated Finland's exceptional work-life balance, positioning it as an attractive destination for investment and collaboration.
The spotlight then shifted to the Government of Kerala's Additional Chief Secretary, Mr. K R Jyothilal IAS, who highlighted the abundant opportunities available in Kerala. He elucidated on the state's conducive environment for investment, inviting companies to consider Kerala as a strategic destination for their ventures.
Mr Ajith Kolassery, CEO of Norka, shed light on the pivotal role played by Norka in supporting Non-Resident Malayalis (NRMs). He detailed Norka's welfare programs designed for Keralites both within and outside the country, emphasizing the organization's unwavering commitment to providing assistance during emergencies.
CA Ranjith Warrier, Secretary of the All Kerala Chartered Accountants Association, offered valuable advice to delegates on navigating the intricacies of international business ventures. His insights provided a comprehensive understanding of the essential aspects to consider while exploring opportunities abroad.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of the Indo-European Trade Organization (IETO), encapsulated the essence of the conference. Dr. Iqbal reiterated the significance of fostering collaborative partnerships between India and Finland, underscoring the mutual benefits derived from such endeavours.
Overall, the India-Finland Trade Conference and other interactions with stakeholders in Kerala during CG's visit served as a catalyst for fostering synergies and unlocking new avenues for economic cooperation between Indian state of Kerala and Finland. The event not only showcased the vast potential of bilateral trade, but also laid the groundwork for future collaborations aimed at driving sustainable growth and prosperity in both nations.
