The Meet
UK-India Healthcare Summit 2016 at the UK Parliament, Westminster, London was organized so as to promote business activity and partnerships between Indian and UK healthcare service providers. The Business Meet was chaired by Chairman of Indo-British All Party Parliamentary group Hon. Virendra Sharma MP and was also attended by two other British MPs, former Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury - Ms. Seema Malhotra MP and Mr. Bob Blackman MP (Harrow East). A total of 20 speakers shared their expertise during the 4 hour Meet which had about 100 delegates who had registered to attend.
Programme Summary
The summit started off with a panel discussion on "Opportunities for Indo-UK Healthcare Partnerships". The panel discussion was moderated by Mr. Mike Nithavrianakis from Healthcare UK. The panelists were Mr. Vamshichand Reddy, Member of Legislative Assembly, India, Dr. Ponraj V - Technical Advisor to Late His Excellency The 11th President of India A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and Mr. Ian Burbidge - Associate Director, Public Services and Communities, Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (The RSA). This was followed by a talk by National Health Service (NHS)Director - Continuous Improvement Mr. Anil Mathew, C.Eng, MBA, who spoke about driving quality and performance at NHS Trust facing Challenges. This talk was followed by a discussion on improving patient outcome and experience by Dr. Mukesh Batra , Chairman and Managing Director, Dr. Batra's. Dr. Batra is India's most renowned Homeopath, and founder-chairman of Dr. Batra's® Group. Dr. Batra's Positive Health Clinic is today the world's largest Homeopathic Healthcare Corporate with 143 clinics spread across 73 cities in India, Dubai and the UK. Following this was another fascinating talk on "Eliminating Blindness - An Innovative Healthcare Model" by Dr. R. V. Ramani, Trustee, Founder and Chairman, Sankara Eye Hospitals, which is notable for carrying out 1,452,613 free eye surgeries till date. Following this, Dr. A.M. Anvar, Chairman & Managing Director, Punarnava Ayurveda Hospitals gave an overview of Ayruveda and how it works. Afterwards, a panel discussion on "Delivering Quality Healthcare : Traditional, Complimentary and Modern Medicine" was moderated by Dr. Amarjeet Bhamra - Lead Secretariat, All Party Parliamentary Group on Indian Traditional Sciences. The other panelists as part of this discussion were Dr, Sudin Kumar - Secretary General, Indian Homeopathic Medical Association, Dr. Rohit Sane - M.D. & CEO at Madhavbaug, Mr. Thiyagarajan Velayutham - Founder - India HomeHealth Care (now part of Bayada Home Health Care USA) and Dr. Prashanth Marla K, Medical Director - A J Hospital & Research Centre. This was followed by another interesting panel discussion on 'Ethical Sustainable Healthcare' which was moderated by Dr. Manpreet Gulati - Director & CEO, Lyca Health and Westminster Healthcare. The other panelists as part of the discussion were Mr.Mani Neelamegan - Director, Ann Physiocare, Dr.Vinayendra Tulla - Aditya Hospital, India and Dr. Mudit Saxena - HCG, India.
