London 17th October 2019 : - Europe India Centre for Business and Industry (EICBI), a London based think tank, & Face Palette, a Kerala based internationally accredited Makeup academy and on demand makeup artist booking App, brought together beauty industry leaders and other stakeholders from UK, India and EU as part of its efforts to provide a common platform to address concerns and showcase opportunities in the beauty sector. These interactions were held during the “Europe India Beauty Summit” at Croydon Town Hall and UK Parliament in London on 17th October. This conference was the 24th summit of the business meet series in the European Union (21 Major summits in British Parliament and 2 Major summits in European Parliament) which have been held during the course of this decade by EICBI and its associated bodies and brought together emerging beauty brands from India and European Union alongside disruptive beauty start-ups to shape the future of beauty sector in the EU India corridor.

The session at Croydon Town Hall was focussed more on helping companies understand the intricacies of setting up & running the business in UK and India whereas the session at UK parliament explored various opportunities and challenges for beauty industry leaders from UK, India and EU. Also, with all the discussions in UK and EU around Brexit and its implications on India, an interesting panel discussion with representations from British Parliament, European Parliament and Indian Embassy in London was organised during the UK Parliament session of the summit. This panel discussion had participation from Hon Bob Blackman MP - British MP, Harrow East, Mr Niccolò Rinaldi - Head of Unit for Asia, Australia and New Zealand - European Parliament & Mr Rohit Vadhwana - First secretary (Economic), High Commission of India.

Sujit S Nair, Chairman of Europe India Centre for Business and Industry said “India’s cosmetic industry is growing twice as fast as markets in the US & Europe. Various reports have suggested that despite being the fastest growing cosmetic market, ½ of India’s population still remains untapped. Through this summit, we provided Indian and EU beauty business leaders with access to the connections, financing, resources and strategic insight that they need to grow their business in India and EU. The summit achieved its goal of inspiring beauty business leaders from the EU and India about the potential of EU India relations for a deeper commercial relationship in the beauty sector”.

The summit also saw the launch of #EuIndiaBeauty50 – Top 50 Emerging EU-India Beauty Leaders list, which acknowledged the contributions of 50 people from the European Union and India to the beauty sector. "#EuIndiaBeauty50 is an initiative of EICBI to discover Top 50 Emerging Beauty Industry Leaders in India & EU and acknowledge the contributions of 50 people from the European Union and India to the beauty sector. The women and men who made it to the EuIndiaBeauty50 list represented 16 different nationalities - Denmark, Finland, Germany, France, India, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom. We scouted for leaders of all ages who are not only contributing to the beauty sector but are also creating a social impact through their work. As we are a body which works in promoting trade and relations between India and EU, we scouted for companies from only these regions. We only expected them to be present either in EU or India and it was not required for them to be present in both the regions. We identified leaders who are not only presently contributing to the beauty sector but also has the potential to leverage this recognition as an emerging beauty industry leader to explore further opportunities in India and European Union (EU) and thereby play a role in enhancing EU and India relations in the near future".

The summit attracted around 90 beauty business leaders and entrepreneurs from the European Union, UK, India, policymakers from the UK, European Union and India, Members of British Parliament and other invited guests.
