UK Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Business Meet 2016 at UK Parliament, London

On 14th April 2016 , this summit was organised to showcase business opportunities between UK and India, specifically regions of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry.


The Meet

UK Tamil Nadu Puducherry Business Meet 2016 was organised on 14th April 2016 ( Tamil New Year's day) at UK Parliament, Westminster, London so as to showcase business opportunities between UK and Tamil Nadu/ Puducherry, a region in the South of India. The business meet was chaired by British MP Hon Virendra Sharma MP and was also attended by two other British MPs, Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury - Seema Malhotra MP and Welsh MP Mr. Gerald Jones. The High Commission of India, London was represented by Mr. Ramaswamy Balaji, First Secretary [Consular] of Indian High Commission Office London.. A total of 10 speakers shared their expertise during the 3 hour meet which had about 160 delegates who had registered to attend the meet

Programme Summary

Mr.Virendra Sharma MP welcomed the delegates attending the business meet.

Former British Deputy High Commissioner, India / Managing Director, Castle Gordon Global Advisory Ltd Mr.Mike Nithavrianakis spoke about Doing Business in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry: Advice for SMEs. Following this, Mr. M. Thiru Vasagam, Chairman - British Tamil Chamber of Commerce spoke about the reasons Why UK Tamils are investing in Tamil Nadu. Then Dr. Shiva Ayyadurai, who is the Inventor of Email & Systems Scientist spoke about The Ecosystem for Global Innovation. This talk was followed by a session on Insights - of Women entrepreneurship in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry which was delivered by Mrs.Sumathi Srinivas CEO- Twilite group/ WE women exclusive – Chennai. Following this Mr. Sudhir Lodha, who is the member of State Minority Commission, Government of Tamil Nadu spoke about the Business Opportunities in Education Sector TN/ Puducherry. This talk was followed by an overview of Real estate investments in Tamil Nadu and was delivered by Mr.Agnelorajesh Athaide, Director - St Angelos VNCT Global Ventures, Chennai. The next talk was by Professor Perumal Nithiarasu, Head of Zienkiewicz Centre for Computational Engineering, Swansea University who spoke about UK India Education collaboration and partnerships. Following this Dr. Vinodh Kannappan , Post doctoral Research associate, University of Wolverhampton spoke about Repurposing Old drugs for treating cancer – Opportunities for pharma companies in India. The final talk of the day was by Padmashri Mr. Arunachalam Muruganantham, CEO - Jayaashree Industries/ Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World, who spoke about Rural innovation from Tamil Nadu to the world.
